Firewalls were first developed in the 1980’s and were mainly performing basic security tasks such as packet-filtering & stateful-filtering. With the emergence of new type of attacks such as viruses, worms, malware and new hacking techniques targeting businesses,there was an increase need for a solution integrating a set of security features to provide a total protection. In 2010’s, the first Next Generation Firewall (NGFW) & Web Application Firewall (WAF) models were released, providing better protection with focus on the Application & User Layers.
